In a decisive game on Thursday night, the New Jersey Devils secured a victory over the Florida Panthers with a 6-2 win, concluding their two-game series sweep against the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

Jesper Bratt delivered an outstanding performance, achieving his second career hat trick, while Stefan Noesen contributed with two goals, leading to the Devils’ triumph over the Panthers. Jack Hughes added to the Devils’ success with a goal and two assists, marking his influence on the game. The Devils, now boasting a 7-2-0 record in their last nine games, capitalized on power play opportunities, scoring three times. Bratt’s third goal came as a short-handed empty-netter with just over five minutes remaining.

For the Panthers, Sam Reinhart continued to display his scoring prowess, becoming the first player this season to reach 13 goals. Jesper Boqvist also found the back of the net for Florida. The Panthers, however, faced setbacks as they had not experienced consecutive defeats since early October. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky managed 23 saves during the game.

A significant moment occurred at the start of the third period, with the Panthers trailing 4-2 and beginning on a power play. This opportunity was quickly nullified due to a tripping penalty called against Carter Verhaeghe. This was just one of several penalties that evening which left the Panthers dissatisfied.

The Devils emerged as the first team this season to score two goals in the final 12 seconds of periods, both from power plays. Bratt netted a goal with two seconds to spare in the first period, while Noesen scored with 11 seconds left in the second period. This strategic execution showcased their efficiency both offensively and defensively.

The New Jersey Devils will continue their Florida campaign with an upcoming match in Tampa Bay, aiming to extend their undefeated record in the state. Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers are poised to face the NHL-leading Winnipeg team, seeking redemption following their recent losses.
