AUSTIN, Texas – Authorities have released new video footage of a vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a scooter rider in downtown Austin in October. The Austin Police Department is asking for public assistance in identifying the driver of a blue four-door Dodge Ram pickup truck connected to the incident.

The collision occurred around 11:34 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, at the intersection of East 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard. The scooter rider, identified as 33-year-old Khaled Saadeddine, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead the following day, on October 19.

According to police, the driver of the pickup truck did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. The newly released video shows the suspect vehicle making a right-hand turn from the left lane shortly before the incident.

This marks Austin’s 78th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 82 deaths so far this year. This is an increase from the same date in 2024, when 71 fatal crashes had resulted in 76 deaths.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-8111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477 or through austincrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
