Dozens of homes in Londonderry were evacuated early in the morning after police discovered two suspected devices, prompting a significant public safety operation. The security alert was initiated in the Glenabbey Close and Beraghvale area following a report of suspicious items just after 12:30 a.m.

Sinn Féin councillor Sandra Duffy condemned the event, stating, “This is a disgraceful attack on a community with lots of young families who do not need disruption of this type.”
Chief Inspector Graeme Craig of the Police Service of Northern Ireland acknowledged the disruption. “We understand the level of disruption this has caused to residents… who have had to leave their homes during the early hours,” he said. “Please be assured we are working our way through this incident as quickly as we can, however, the safety of the community is our priority.”
