An Air India flight from Toronto landed safely in Delhi on Thursday after authorities received a bomb threat while the aircraft was in transit. All passengers and crew disembarked without incident after the flight, AI188, was parked in a secure area for mandatory security checks upon arrival.

According to sources, Delhi Police received the threat message on Thursday morning. The airport’s Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was subsequently convened and determined the threat to be ‘non-specific.’ The flight, a Boeing 777, was reportedly in the air for just over 15 hours.

In a statement, an Air India spokesperson confirmed that a security alert was communicated during the flight’s cruise. “On board crew carried out all the laid down security drills keeping passenger safety & security as top priority,” the spokesperson said.

The flight landed at the Delhi airport at approximately 3:40 p.m. local time. Following the safe disembarkation of all passengers and crew, security protocols were initiated to thoroughly inspect the aircraft. Authorities are investigating the origin of the threat.
