ROCKLAND, Mass. — Authorities have officially identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on the evening of November 11 as Darnel Andre, a 29-year-old resident of Rockland. Andre was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds near 75 Deering Square and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Rockland Police Department received a 911 call reporting gunshots in the area at approximately 9:35 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Andre, who was transported to South Shore Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit is now leading the investigation.
According to a statement from the district attorney’s office, investigators conducted interviews at the scene where individuals reported seeing a thin male dressed in dark clothing fleeing the area. A subsequent ground and air search, which utilized the State Police Airwing and a drone, did not locate the suspect.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
