A Memphis man wanted on multiple felony warrants was taken into custody in Grenada, Mississippi, on Wednesday after an extended standoff with U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement. Tra-Shawn Robinson, 26, was arrested following a multi-hour refusal to surrender from a residence on West Monroe Street.

Robinson was sought by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) on charges including aggravated assault, domestic assault, aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and vandalism. After arrest warrants were issued on October 24, the SCSO requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Investigators tracked Robinson from the Memphis area to Grenada. The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Winona Police Department K9 unit, and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, surrounded the home where Robinson was located.

According to U.S. Marshals, Robinson barricaded himself inside the residence for several hours. Upon entering the home, officers found him in a bathtub with a machete-style knife and numerous self-inflicted cuts on his arms. He was immediately taken into custody and transported by ambulance to a hospital for medical treatment.

Following his medical care, Robinson will face the outstanding charges against him. It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
