A North Miami Beach family encountered a thief removing holiday decorations from their property in broad daylight on Tuesday morning, an incident captured on video that is now under investigation by local law enforcement.
According to a report by WPLG, the incident occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Northeast 180th Street near 16th Avenue. As the homeowner, identified only as Lizbeth, returned from a grocery trip with her family, they observed a red four-door sedan resembling a Chevrolet reverse directly onto their front lawn.
Witnesses stated that the driver exited the vehicle and began forcibly removing the family’s Christmas inflatables. Lizbeth told the outlet that the suspect took four items, including a Christmas tree and a Minnie Mouse decoration, while her family, including her infant child, looked on.
“I just saw this guy, and he tried to get everything as much as he can,” Lizbeth said in an interview with WPLG. She expressed concern for her children’s safety, noting that they frequently play in the front yard where the vehicle intruded. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in the vehicle immediately following the theft.
Investigative Outlook
Police in North Miami Beach are currently searching for the suspect involved in this theft. While the theft of seasonal decorations is a known issue during the holidays, the brazen nature of this incident—occurring in broad daylight while residents were present—raises concerns regarding the boldness of the perpetrator. Authorities are urging the community to remain vigilant and report suspicious vehicles matching the description. It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
