Police arrested a 20-year-old suspect in unincorporated West Menlo Park on Wednesday evening following a pursuit that prompted authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order for local residents.

Officers from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety initiated the operation around 5 p.m. on December 3, tracking a vehicle registered to Aidan Davis. According to Menlo Park Commander Wilson Lau, Davis fled the vehicle on foot near Harrison Way, triggering a localized search effort.

Commander Lau stated that Davis was sought on an outstanding $600,000 arrest warrant related to weapons charges. In response to the suspect fleeing on foot, Menlo Park police advised residents in the immediate vicinity to shelter in place while law enforcement conducted a sweep of the area.

Authorities confirmed that Davis was taken into custody later that night without further incident.

Public Safety Impact

The swift coordination between the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, and Menlo Park Police underscores the effectiveness of multi-agency responses to fleeing suspects in residential zones. By issuing a shelter-in-place order, law enforcement prioritized community safety while isolating the perimeter to contain the suspect. With the individual now in custody, the immediate threat to the neighborhood has been neutralized, shifting the focus to the judicial processing of the outstanding charges. It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
