Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated a homicide investigation on Friday evening following a wellness check at a residence in Tampa that revealed a deceased female and a critically wounded male.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 15100 block of Alexis Drive around 5 p.m. Upon entering the property, investigators discovered a female victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities also located a male individual inside the residence suffering from what deputies described as an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Emergency responders transported the male subject to a local hospital, where he remains listed in critical condition.
