NEWARK, Del. – Authorities in Newark have charged a 34-year-old man with armed robbery and multiple weapons offenses following a confrontation involving a bicycle on Saturday morning. The incident, which allegedly involved the display of a firearm, occurred in a residential neighborhood in the 100 block of Madison Street.
According to a statement released by the Newark Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. on December 20, 2025. The suspect, identified as Justin Bacon, allegedly approached a resident and claimed ownership of a bicycle located on the home’s front deck, asserting it had been taken by a child.
Police reports indicate that during the interaction, Bacon revealed a handgun tucked into his waistband before leaving the property with the bicycle. Following a canvass of the surrounding area, officers located Bacon’s vehicle approximately one block away from the scene.
Upon detaining the suspect, law enforcement officials recovered two .22-caliber handguns.
