PANAJI — The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Goa police arrested a 23-year-old resident of Mapusa on Sunday following a targeted raid in Anjuna that resulted in the seizure of illegal narcotics.

According to ANC Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant, the operation was conducted by PSI Dindayal Redkar alongside two witnesses. Authorities raided an open area situated behind St. Michael’s School, adjacent to the BSNL mobile tower. During the search, officers apprehended Rishikesh Rao, who was allegedly found in possession of illicit substances.

Superintendent Sawant stated that investigators recovered 4 grams of suspected Ecstasy powder, with an estimated value of Rs 40,000, and 15 grams of suspected hydroponic weed, valued at approximately Rs 75,000. The total value of the seized contraband exceeds Rs 1 lakh. The confiscated drugs and other related articles were formally processed and attached under a panchnama.

Procedural Next Steps

Following the seizure, the ANC has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Rao. The investigation will now proceed to determine the origin of the narcotics, specifically the supply chain for the hydroponic weed and Ecstasy discovered during the operation. It is important to note that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
