According to the District Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred as members of the Bucks County Detectives Drug Strike Force, along with Bensalem Township Police and other agencies, breached the door of a home on Fairdale Road. Investigators report that officers were immediately met with gunfire from inside the residence. Despite the high-risk engagement, officials confirmed that no law enforcement personnel were injured and no officers returned fire.
Sperando eventually surrendered to authorities at the scene. He has been charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, and numerous narcotics offenses. Khan stated that due to the severity of the alleged actions, his office successfully argued for Sperando to be detained in Bucks County without the possibility of posting cash bail.

Two co-conspirators were also implicated in the investigation. David Tierney was arrested after allegedly attempting to flush evidence and is held on $250,000 bail. Nicholas Keenoy surrendered to authorities on January 27. Bensalem Public Safety Director William McVey commended the tactical discipline of the officers involved, crediting their training for the safe apprehension of the suspects despite the gunfire.
