Macias faces accusations of aiding Mohamed Husien, the primary suspect in a series of crimes initiated in Sacramento. According to federal agents, Macias and Husien attempted to carjack a vehicle at gunpoint at a Sacramento dealership. Investigators further allege that Macias transported Husien to a San Jose car dealership on the afternoon of January 21, shortly before the situation escalated significantly.
San Jose police reported that Husien subsequently stole a green Chevrolet Corvette from a dealership on Capitol Expressway. This theft initiated a high-speed pursuit extending more than 40 miles south to Hollister. Authorities stated that while in Hollister, Husien was involved in two separate exchanges of gunfire with police before carjacking another vehicle and returning to San Jose.
Upon his return to downtown San Jose, Husien engaged in a shootout with officers, resulting in a police sergeant sustaining a gunshot wound to the head. The suspect was struck by a patrol vehicle while attempting another carjacking and was ultimately fatally shot by officers. The injured sergeant was treated and has since been released from the hospital. Following the incident, investigators utilized surveillance to locate Macias at an associate’s home in Los Banos, where he was arrested without incident.
