Law enforcement authorities in Sioux Falls are searching for three individuals following an armed robbery and subsequent shooting at a local gas station on January 31. Police report that one person was injured after attempting to pursue the suspects as they fled the scene.

According to Sgt. Jake Harris of the Sioux Falls Police Department, detectives were dispatched to the Food and Fuel gas station at the intersection of Ninth Street and Kiwanis Avenue at approximately 9 p.m. The investigation was initiated after reports that three individuals had entered the business, stole a bottle of alcohol, and ran out of the building.

Sgt. Harris stated that a person from inside the establishment chased the suspects, who were fleeing eastbound on foot. During the pursuit, one of the individuals produced a firearm and shot the pursuer in the ankle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects were described as being between 15 and 20 years old and wearing face coverings.
