Authorities reported that the crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. in the 8400 block of Fort Caroline Road. Preliminary investigations by the Sheriff’s Office indicate that a Ford Escape was traveling westbound when a “side-by-side utility vehicle” struck the rear of the automobile.
The impact caused the utility vehicle to overturn, resulting in the ejection of all six occupants. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and transported all individuals involved to a local hospital. Officials stated that a male occupant in his early twenties was pronounced dead upon arrival, while another individual remains in life-threatening condition.
