Meriden police have filed additional charges against a 32-year-old man already in custody, linking him to a second armed robbery at the same gas station within a two-month span. According to Meriden police Lt. Darrin McKay, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Citgo gas station on Colony Street around 7:35 p.m. on Halloween. Investigators allege that Roman, armed with a knife, jumped over the counter and removed money from the cash register before fleeing the scene. Police stated that evidence recovered during the subsequent investigation definitively linked Roman to this specific crime.
Roman was previously arrested on November 5 following another robbery at the same Citgo location. In that instance, officers apprehended him as he attempted to flee the premises. Judicial records indicate he is currently held on a $150,000 bond for the November case, with an additional $100,000 bond set for the charges filed Wednesday.
Authorities have identified Roman and an alleged accomplice, 41-year-old Corey Alexis, as suspects in a wider series of nine armed robberies that took place between September and November. Police report that in five of these incidents, the suspect displayed a knife. Alexis was apprehended in October while allegedly preparing to rob a convenience store with a BB gun and is currently held on a $300,000 bond facing charges of criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery.
