Taylorsville Police Lt. Aaron Cheshire stated that emergency dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 2:17 p.m. reporting an active shooter near 4400 South and 2700 West. The caller, who witnessed the event from the parking lot, observed a man running into the store while firing at another individual. Officers from the Taylorsville and West Valley City Police Departments arrived at the scene within one minute of the dispatch.
Upon securing the scene, law enforcement found two injured men inside the store. According to a statement by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), the off-duty trooper, who was present on private business, engaged the suspect after the suspect discharged a firearm and injured one individual.
