A wave of violence swept through Macon, Georgia, over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to nine others across eight separate shooting incidents. New details regarding the timeline and circumstances of the violence were confirmed in incident reports released by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The violence began Friday evening when a 17-year-old male was shot three times on North Atwood Drive. According to the police report, the victim was transported to the hospital by his mother and listed in stable condition. Authorities have not yet announced any arrests in connection with this initial incident.
Hours later, early Saturday morning, deputies responded to a domestic incident on Sharon Drive. A man was shot in the leg after allegedly attempting to break into his estranged wife’s home. The resident told investigators she acted in self-defense after the intruder began to assault and choke her. The man was hospitalized in stable condition and faces outstanding warrants for criminal damage to property and family violence.
The first fatality of the weekend occurred Saturday evening on Florence Avenue, where 35-year-old Shaviz Adams was shot and killed. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of 31-year-old Jeremi Hill, who has been charged with murder. Witnesses described seeing three men fleeing the scene, but no further suspects have been publicly identified.
Just before midnight on Saturday, gunfire on Key Street injured a 7-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man. Investigators determined that six people were inside the residence when shots were fired into the home. All three victims were listed in stable condition. Shell casings were recovered from the porch and roadway, though the victims reported seeing no suspects.
Sunday morning saw further violence, starting with the shooting of a 17-year-old on Holt Avenue at 1:29 a.m. The victim, who survived, told authorities he had been having trouble with a peer at school. Police recovered more than 80 spent rounds in the roadway outside the residence.
At 3:35 a.m. Sunday, three men—identified as Charleston Burnett, 25, Jordan Gardner, 25, and Willie Cain, 26—were shot and killed on Moseley Avenue. Deputies arrived to find a chaotic scene with a large crowd. Authorities subsequently arrested 20-year-old Julius Milner, charging him with three counts of murder and five counts of aggravated assault.
Two additional shootings occurred later Sunday. At 6:38 a.m., two women were injured near Brad Walsh Parkway when occupants of a trailing vehicle opened fire on their car. Finally, at 2:37 p.m., a 55-year-old woman was shot while in a vehicle on Dewey Street. The victim stated an SUV pulled alongside her and opened fire while she was testing her brakes with her sons. No suspects have been named in these final two incidents.
It is important to note that Jeremi Hill and Julius Milner, as well as any other individuals named in connection with criminal investigations, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Investigative Outlook
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office faces a complex investigative landscape following this 48-hour surge in violence. While arrests have been secured in the two homicide cases, suspects remain at large for the majority of the incidents, including the drive-by shooting involving a minor on Key Street and the high-volume discharge of firearms on Holt Avenue. The clustering of these events places significant strain on local law enforcement resources as detectives work to process forensic evidence, including the dozens of shell casings recovered, to determine if any cross-connections exist between the seemingly disparate attacks.
