In Miami Springs, an alarming incident unfolded involving a smoke shop sales clerk and an accused assailant whose actions were caught on surveillance.
On the evening of November 9, Tyrone Armbrister entered the Red Eye Smoke Shop located on Canal Street. Initially, his interaction seemed innocuous as he inquired about cigars from the sales clerk, 20-year-old Ahiline Campos. After purchasing a couple of cigars, Armbrister exited the store, only to return shortly thereafter, shirtless and with apparent intent to harm.
The subsequent events, captured partly by the store’s surveillance cameras, reveal Armbrister engaging in a violent struggle with Campos. During the confrontation, he attempted to drag her into the storage room. Demonstrating commendable courage, Campos resisted fiercely by kicking, screaming, and even striking Armbrister with a toilet plunger in her efforts to escape his grasp.
Despite her persistent pleadings being ignored, Campos managed to deceive Armbrister by claiming she had pressed an emergency button to alert police. This bluff prompted him to flee the scene. Fortunately, law enforcement was able to arrest him later. Currently, Armbrister is detained in a Miami-Dade jail and is facing serious charges, including attempted sexual battery, false imprisonment, and burglary. He is scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday.
This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and the quick thinking demonstrated by the victim, ensuring her safety and leading to the apprehension of the suspect.
