Trevor Lawrence, the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, is expected to make his return this Sunday against the Houston Texans after being sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
Lawrence, who suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder during Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles, has been absent from the Jaguars’ lineup for the past two games. Despite limited practice sessions, head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Lawrence is anticipated to start, signaling a positive update for the Jaguars.
The shoulder injury, affecting Lawrence’s non-throwing arm, had led to his absence in both preparation and play against the Detroit Lions in Week 11. However, his imminent return is a relief to the team, given his crucial role. Lawrence himself admitted he was not entirely dismissing the possibility of future surgery but stated he expects to play without major restrictions, although pain tolerance remains a factor.
On a positive note, the Jaguars face minimal other injury challenges as they prepare for their match against the Texans. Cornerback Tyson Campbell was a minor concern due to a shoulder issue but is confirmed fit after full participation in recent practice. Running back Tank Bigsby, recovering from an ankle injury, is also back in full training, ready to contribute post the team’s Week 12 bye. Additionally, another running back, Travis Etienne, who had been dealing with a hamstring problem, is reported to be in good health.
Despite these optimistic updates, linebacker Yasir Abdullah will not play against the Texans due to a hamstring injury sustained before the Lions’ game and hasn’t been able to practice. This leaves Lawrence and Abdullah as the significant names on the team’s final injury report for the week.
While Trevor Lawrence’s status remains officially questionable, the expectation of his return against the Houston Texans brings an optimistic outlook for the Jaguars. The team is largely healthy otherwise, bolstering their confidence as they aim to make an impactful comeback in the upcoming game.
