Edoardo Bove collapsed on the field during the Fiorentina vs. Inter Milan match, leading to the suspension of the game in Italy’s Serie A on Sunday.
After falling to the ground off the ball, medical personnel swiftly entered the pitch, while players and staff from both teams formed a protective circle around the Italian midfielder. An ambulance was called to the scene and transported Bove to the hospital.
The players from both sides looked visibly shaken as the referee signaled to take them off the pitch, officially halting the match. Inter Milan issued a statement confirming, “The match has been suspended due to a medical emergency.”
According to Sky Italia, Bove is breathing but remains unconscious, while Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the game will be abandoned.
