A major incident unfolded in Aventura, Florida, as a luxury yacht lost power and triggered a significant chain reaction. The yacht, while attempting to dock at the Turnberry property, crashed into another yacht, a smaller boat, and a dock, causing substantial damage.
Cell phone footage, exclusively obtained, shows the luxury yacht crashing into the boat owned by Nelson Fox. Fox described the impact as strong enough to propel his boat across the channel. “That took a very strong impact,” he noted in a video, illustrating the severity of the collision.
Another video captures the aftermath, revealing the visible damage sustained by both the boat and the dock. “This big boat hit my boat and the dock, and crashed into it,” Fox stated, emphasizing the destructive force of the incident.
Fox detailed that the yacht collided with his boat after being inadvertently pushed by another yacht that had lost power. The powerful impact caused Fox’s boat to “crack the whole top” and even lifted it, resulting in further structural issues.
The incident left Fox’s property in disrepair, with damages including scuffs, dents, scratches, and a cracked bimini roof. Additionally, the dock’s flotation devices were left burst and needed a complete replacement, costing approximately $100,000. The overall repairs for Fox’s boat are estimated at $165,000.
Despite the severity of the crash, Aventura Police confirmed that no injuries were reported. Fortunately, Fox and his family were not on the boat at the time, preventing potential personal harm.
The investigation into the incident is being led by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Currently, there are no updates regarding arrests or further details on the investigation as of Monday night.
