In a tragic incident unfolding in Seminole County, a man accused of stabbing his estranged girlfriend multiple times died in a high-speed crash while attempting to evade law enforcement.
According to reports, at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Friday, deputies were called to a residence on Hibbard Trail in Chuluota. The call came in after two individuals had reportedly been stabbed. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the lifeless body of Kristin Stevens, age 40, who had suffered as many as 70 stab wounds, presumably inflicted with a kitchen knife.
An unidentified male at the scene recounted to officers that the suspect, identified as James Christopher Lindsey, 42, had forcibly entered the premises by using a hammer to shatter a glass barrier. The witness attempted to intervene by physically confronting Lindsey to rescue Stevens but sustained a stab wound to the leg during the struggle. Lindsey fled the scene immediately following the attack.
Lindsey’s flight from justice concluded tragically when he was found dead at around 5 a.m. The fatal crash occurred in the Orange County area, specifically on Fort Christmas Road. Authorities revealed that Lindsey lost control of his vehicle while driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph, resulting in a crash that ejected him from the car. The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation into the details of the crash.
Sheriff Dennis Lemma provided insight into Lindsey and Stevens’ relationship, describing it as a domestic partnership with a documented history of domestic violence calls dating back to 2014. ‘This is a heartbreaking and traumatic incident that will have a lasting impact on families and the community,’ Sheriff Lemma remarked, extending his condolences to the victims and their families.
The incident underscores the tragic consequences of domestic violence and the ripple effect it creates in communities. Law enforcement continues to gather information to fully understand the events leading up to the altercation and subsequent car crash.
The fatal chain of events highlights the ongoing issue of domestic violence, reminding communities of the critical need for intervention and support services. Authorities remain committed to investigating this incident thoroughly to bring clarity and justice to those affected.
