Drinkall has been integral to Army’s coaching staff, where he expertly managed the offensive line and served as co-offensive coordinator in 2023. His diverse coaching portfolio includes roles with tight ends and quarterbacks, and he was part of the team when Army clinched the AAC championship just this past Friday.
Matt Drinkall will be stepping into the shoes of Jim McElwain, who recently retired after six seasons with Central Michigan. A native of Bettendorf, Iowa, Drinkall boasts a robust coaching history. Before joining Army, he led Kansas Wesleyan, an NAIA program, to 40 victories over four seasons and secured a conference title. His past experiences also include coaching roles at Western Illinois and St. Ambrose University, another NAIA program.
