Authorities have detained a person of interest after a woman’s lifeless body was discovered along Interstate 95 in northwest Miami-Dade, according to police statements made on Monday.
Lorent Pion, aged 29, is currently facing multiple charges primarily associated with a police pursuit that culminated in Miramar this past Saturday. The individual was detained merely hours subsequent to the grisly discovery of 22-year-old Nahomi Valentina Cittadini’s body, found on a grassy verge near the northbound lanes of I-95 just beyond Ives Dairy Road.
Prior to the finding of Cittadini’s body, Miami-Dade police had reportedly received numerous calls regarding a heated altercation between two individuals in the vicinity, which prompted a response from Florida Highway Patrol troopers subsequently uncovering the tragic scene. However, the exact cause of her demise has yet to be disclosed by officials.
Pion’s arrest occurred after a high-speed chase involving a black BMW on Interstate 75, which concluded with a crash involving numerous vehicles, one purportedly carrying an infant, on Miramar Parkway. Despite attempting to flee the crash site, Pion was swiftly apprehended by responding officers.
Currently, Pion is held on charges including aggravated fleeing with injury or damage, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and resisting an officer. Although he hasn’t been formally charged in connection with Cittadini’s death, law enforcement is actively interrogating him concerning his possible involvement.
A court has mandated that Pion be held without the possibility of bond, citing a probation violation. His engagement with the case continues to be under close scrutiny by Miami-Dade Police.
