The charges against Jamil Hassan and Abdul Salam Mahmoud, both former intelligence officers under the regime of Bashar al-Assad, were unveiled in a federal court in Chicago. These individuals are accused of overseeing a network of detention facilities at the Mezzeh Military Airport near Damascus, notorious for its brutal practices.
