Particulate matter, often associated with serious health risks such as lung issues and heart attacks, was found to be significantly lower when air frying. Pan frying marked the highest pollutant levels at a staggering 92.9 micrograms per cubic meter, whereas air frying barely registered at 0.6 micrograms. Similarly, VOCs, which can cause a range of health issues from headaches to liver damage, were found at their minimal levels of 20 parts per billion (ppb) with air frying. In contrast, pan frying showed the highest levels, peaking at 260 ppb. These pollutants linger long after cooking wraps up, underscoring the potential long-term exposure risks associated with traditional cooking methods.
