A man in Altoona, Pennsylvania, is under investigation in connection with the recent killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO, Brian Thompson, in Manhattan. This follows the discovery of a firearm matching the one used in the crime.
Sources indicate that police received a tip from concerned customers at a McDonald’s in Altoona, who reported a suspicious individual. Upon police arrival, the man presented a fake ID, prompting further investigation. A subsequent search uncovered a gun resembling the weapon used in the CEO’s murder, accompanied by a silencer and another fake ID bearing the name ‘Marc Rosario.’
The investigation deepened with the revelation that the suspect may have used a fake ID when checking into a Manhattan hostel, a few weeks prior. Authorities are also exploring possibilities that he might have traveled from Philadelphia, as he potentially disembarked from a bus in the Altoona area. NYPD detectives are currently en route to Pennsylvania to continue their inquiries.
The shocking incident occurred last week when Thompson was shot at point-blank range outside a midtown Manhattan hotel. With the shooter still at large, both local authorities and the FBI are intensifying their search efforts, supported by surveillance footage capturing the suspect on various cameras across Manhattan. Despite this, the killer’s identity remains a mystery.
Investigators have traced the suspect’s steps, suggesting he fled the crime scene on a bicycle through Central Park before switching to a taxi. Recently released images show him entering a cab with his face partially concealed by a blue mask. Although his trail has been followed to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station, his location after that remains unknown.
Adding complexity to the investigation, a gray bag possibly belonging to the suspect was found in Central Park, containing items such as a jacket and Monopoly money, but not the weapon. The bag is undergoing forensic analysis for potential DNA evidence.
As detectives continue to piece together the suspect’s movements, the FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his apprehension and conviction. This is in addition to a $10,000 reward from the NYPD. The coordinated efforts involve interviewing those close to Thompson and potential witnesses who may provide critical information.
The investigation into Brian Thompson’s murder, marked by the questioning of a man in Pennsylvania, represents a significant lead in an otherwise complex case. Authorities continue their work to bring justice to the Thompson family.
