The Miami Dolphins have placed wide receiver Grant DuBose on injured reserve after a severe on-field incident against the Houston Texans.
On Sunday, the Dolphins’ wide receiver Grant DuBose experienced a helmet-to-helmet collision with Houston Texans’ safety Calen Bullock while attempting a catch during the third quarter. The impact was severe enough to leave DuBose motionless on the field, prompting immediate medical attention.
Emergency personnel swiftly responded to the situation, attending to DuBose for over ten minutes. They proceeded to cut off his jersey and secure him in a neck brace, indicating the serious nature of his injuries. Subsequently, he was placed on a spine board with his limbs strapped down to ensure stability during transport to the hospital.
Fortunately, DuBose was reported to have movement in all extremities by Monday. This development provided some relief amid the tense circumstances, as he remained hospitalized under stable conditions.
Grant DuBose, initially drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2023 draft, joined the Dolphins in August. He had only recently been activated to play following a prior placement on injured reserve in September due to a shoulder injury. His return to the field was eagerly anticipated, but this incident has sidelined him once more.
In another roster change, the Dolphins promoted long snapper Jake McQuaide from the practice squad and signed receiver Isaiah McKenzie and quarterback Skylar Thompson to the squad. Thompson, who had been with Miami for three seasons, was released last week but has now been re-signed.
Grant DuBose’s unfortunate injury highlights the risks involved in professional football and the diligence required in player safety protocols. While his condition shows signs of improvement, his absence will be felt by the Dolphins as they adjust their roster accordingly.
