In an unsettling turn of events, large drones have been mysteriously soaring over New Jersey and New York City, leaving officials and residents alike scrambling for answers.
These drones, reportedly about six feet in diameter, have been predominantly seen during the night. Often flying with their lights off, they raise eyebrows and concerns among those who catch a glimpse of them. Initial reports surfaced last month when these flying objects were noticed near the Picatinny Arsenal, a significant US military research facility, and also over a New Jersey golf course belonging to president-elect Donald Trump.
The frequency of these sightings has only increased over the weeks, though some have been chalked up to planes rather than drones. The FBI, now on the case, is urging the public to share any evidence—be it photos or videos—that might help solve this airborne mystery. What’s more, these drones have not only been confined to New Jersey and New York City but have also been spotted drifting over parts of Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia.
Despite this regional intrigue, authorities have been quick to reassure the public that these drones do not present a threat to safety. One notable sighting involved multiple drones over Bernardsville, New Jersey, captured on December 5, which contributed to the growing unease.
A briefing by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) left New Jersey assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia convinced these drones were not the playthings of hobbyists. Their considerable size suggests a different purpose, possibly beyond the realm of casual fliers. Republican assemblyman Erik Peterson echoed the confusion, admitting authorities have ‘no clue’ about who might be orchestrating these flights.
Adding fuel to the speculative fire, two congressmen from the Jersey Shore area, Chris Smith and Jeff Van Drew, have gone so far as to suggest military intervention, with Van Drew proposing that they originate from an ‘Iranian mothership.’ However, the Pentagon, represented by Sabrina Singh, has dispelled fears of foreign involvement, stating there is no evidence to support the notion of a foreign adversary being behind these activities.
James Edwards, a resident of Succasunna, New Jersey, expressed his concern over the mystery, citing the prevalence of conspiracies cropping up in response to these sightings. Meanwhile, New Jersey’s governor, Phil Murphy, assured that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness, emphasizing the frustration felt by the public.
As drones continue to buzz over New Jersey skies, the search for answers remains ongoing. Authorities and residents, entangled in this airborne enigma, eagerly await clarity on the mystery of these unclaimed flying objects.
