Fort Lauderdale Police have apprehended Tydaijah Sade Lashone Murray, charged in the hit-and-run that left Yevhenii Arsirii with life-altering injuries.
The incident took place just after midnight on August 11 in the 2300 block of Northwest 6th Street. Yevhenii Arsirii noticed someone pushing a truck and stopped to assist, discovering the driver had run out of gas. As Arsirii and the driver were pushing the vehicle, they were discussing love and compassion, as Arsirii recounted.”,”In an unfortunate twist, another car struck Arsirii, another good Samaritan, and the truck from behind. Police report that the driver, later identified as Murray, exited her vehicle and walked away from the scene. Her arrest brings some consolation to Arsirii, who vividly remembers the crash.
“I felt something hit me from behind really hard. I looked at my legs, and then I couldn’t feel them. There was a lot of blood,” Arsirii said. Despite the shock, he noted how the driver exclaimed, ‘Oh, my God, what am I supposed to do now?’ He expressed a desire to convey how his life changed following the incident, detailing his struggles since becoming wheelchair-bound.
Before the crash, Arsirii led a very active life. Now, he likens himself to a turtle, moving slowly due to new physical limitations. “If she had stayed, maybe it would be different for her, but not for me,” he reflected. His current focus is on recuperating from an infection in his remaining leg and adapting to his new reality.
Arsirii acknowledged the psychological toll, stating, “The burden doesn’t ease. You just learn how to live with it.” His journey involves coping, moving forward, and adjusting to life with significant changes.
While the arrest of Tydaijah Sade Lashone Murray may offer Arsirii some closure, he continues to face the challenges imposed by the hit-and-run incident. His resilience serves as a testament to the human spirit’s ability to endure and adapt.
