In a tragic event late Sunday night, a fatal accident on Interstate 95 in Broward County resulted in the deaths of two women and left four others injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials.
The incident occurred just before midnight in the northbound lanes of I-95, situated north of Atlantic Boulevard. Preliminary reports suggest that a Hyundai Elantra and a Toyota Corolla were involved in a minor collision and had come to a stop in the inside general purpose lane with their hazard lights, headlights, and taillights illuminated.
As the drivers of the Elantra and Corolla were exchanging information outside their vehicles, a Toyota Camry reportedly did not “drive in a safe and prudent manner” and crashed into the stationary vehicles, as per the Florida Highway Patrol. The collision claimed the lives of a woman who was standing outside the vehicles, as well as another woman who was seated within the Elantra.
Four additional individuals—three men and a woman—were injured in the accident. The injured parties included the driver of the Camry and a man who was near the involved vehicles at the time of the crash. Following the crash, all lanes of the roadway were closed for several hours to allow for a thorough investigation, leading to significant traffic delays in the area.
