A water main break on Nocatee Parkway has left many residents east of US-1 grappling with significant disruptions, under a continuing boil water advisory.
The Nocatee community is currently experiencing severe water supply interruptions due to a break in the water main. On Saturday, repairs were reportedly completed, but the advisory remains in place until water safety is confirmed. Residents, including Virgen Sola, described the swift change in their daily routines. Initially unaware of the severity, Sola realized through social media updates that neighborhoods were collectively without water. Other residents have faced similar disruptions, experiencing low to non-existent water pressure before a complete shutdown.
Sola shared how she had to alter daily habits, resorting to dining out and purchasing bottled water for basic necessities, extending even to her pet’s water needs. This adjustment is expected to continue for a few more days until confirmation on water safety is provided. The affected areas include multiple communities east of US-1, excluding only a few, such as Austin Park and Greenleaf Communities.
JEA officials have indicated that water testing by a laboratory will require approximately 48 hours to ensure the water supply hasn’t been compromised. During this period, residents are advised to be vigilant about communications through emails and text messages for further updates. The advisory means that all water for consumption should be boiled as a precaution.
The Nocatee community continues to adapt to the water supply challenges while awaiting confirmation of safety post-repairs. Residents remain affected by the necessary precautions, underlining the importance of infrastructure integrity in daily life.
