In a disturbing incident in Deerfield Beach, an 11-year-old boy was severely bitten by a dog outside his home, highlighting ongoing community concerns about animal safety.
Authorities were alerted to the scene after receiving a report of an animal bite around 6:30 p.m. on the 400 block of Southwest 13th Place. The victim, Stefan Pierre, expressed the acute pain he felt after the dog attack. “I’m feeling bad. My arm hurts really bad,” Pierre recounted, emphasizing the trauma he endured outside his apartment near South Dixie Highway.
According to Pierre, the attack occurred as he was heading to his uncle’s apartment in the same building to go to church. The unexpected encounter with the dog turned perilous when the animal bit him, prompting its owner to intervene.
The situation escalated rapidly as three dogs started biting him all over, leading to his hospitalization. His mother, Eliette Dorsainvil, arrived in panic as she heard the terrifying screams of her son. “I’m not feel good because I’m a mom. I’m not feel good because when I come outside, I see my son the floor, the dog got him, a lot of blood,” she described, recalling the chaotic scene.
Emergency services responded swiftly, and Pierre was transported to the hospital where he received stitches. Dorsainvil also recounted her frustration with the lack of regulation over the animals, expressing fears for community safety. “The city don’t do nothing… three dog you don’t have control over the dog, because the dog push him, too, everybody can be a victim like that,” she stated, voicing her concerns for other potential victims.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office and Broward County Animal Control have since intervened, detaining all three dogs involved in the incident. The community is shaken by this occurrence, reflecting on preventive measures to ensure such attacks don’t repeat. Dorsainvil, while relieved that her son survived, acknowledges the potential severity of the event. “I [could have] lost him, thank God he’s still alive,” she remarked.
