Miami Man Arrested for Alleged Scissors Attack Over Rent Dispute

In a startling incident, a Miami man was arrested after allegedly attacking his roommate with scissors during a heated argument about rent.

According to authorities, the confrontation occurred on Saturday night, involving Felipe Cobo Brito, 30, who shares a residence with the victim. The Miami Police Department reported that the altercation began over discussions about rent payments and moving out.

Cobo Brito admitted to having a dispute with his roommate but claimed the situation escalated when the victim allegedly pulled him from his bed, causing him to scrape his knees. However, Cobo Brito’s account of the incident varied, placing himself at a kitchen table or in a bathroom in different versions of his story.

The victim, however, recounted a different series of events to the police. He stated that while he stood at the front doorstep, Cobo Brito’s brother, Francisco, restrained him by holding his arms. It was then, he alleged, that Cobo Brito cut his ear with scissors. Further, he claimed that after the injury, the brothers laughed and kicked him in the stomach as he lay on the bathroom floor.

Following the incident, Cobo Brito reportedly fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. He was later apprehended and charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon. As of Monday afternoon, Cobo Brito remained in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a set bail of $7,500.

Felipe Cobo Brito faces serious allegations following a violent dispute over rent, casting light on the severity of domestic conflicts that escalate into violence. The legal proceedings will determine the outcome of these charges, emphasizing the need for peaceful conflict resolution.
