In a regular press briefing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry responded with concern to the United States’ proposed measures aimed at strengthening semiconductor restrictions against China.

Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, emphasized that employing strategies to pressure other nations into undermining China’s semiconductor sector could backfire. He highlighted that such actions threaten the growth of the worldwide semiconductor market.

During the briefing, Lin pointed out that the US’s approach may have adverse effects not only on China but also on the broader global supply chain. He stressed that attempts to isolate China’s technology advancements could lead to a fragmented global industry, potentially slowing innovation and collaboration.

Lin’s comments came in response to queries about the US administration’s intentions to intensify restrictions. The proposed US policy aims to limit China’s access to certain advanced technologies essential for semiconductor manufacturing.

He argued that the US policy might disrupt international partnerships and alliances within the semiconductor field, suggesting that such moves could prompt a recalibration of global relations and market dynamics.

The ongoing tension between the US and China over technological advancements in the semiconductor industry highlights the complexities and potential repercussions of international trade policies.
