Undercover police officers are gearing up to be part of a collaborative security initiative during the Ultra Music Festival in Downtown Miami. This annual electronic music extravaganza is expected to draw over 150,000 fans to Bayfront Park, as well as to nearby hotels hosting pool and rooftop parties.
Attendees should brace for heavy traffic, as a section of Biscayne Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Monday. During this period, police will redirect northbound traffic at Southeast First Street and southbound traffic at Northeast Sixth Street.

The festival, known for its powerful bass and synchronized DJ performances across multiple stages, will kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday and continue through until after midnight on Monday morning.
Authorities are warning the public to be cautious of scammers attempting to sell fraudulent tickets both online and in person. This year, general admission tickets have already sold out, and Ultra Music Festival (UMF) began accepting requests for the 2026 waitlist as early as Wednesday. For those unable to attend in person, some sets and interviews will be streamed live.
This year’s headline acts include top artists like Skrillex, Solomun, Anyma, Hardwell, Oliver Heldens, Martin Garrix, Zeds Dead, deadmau5, Carl Cox, Dom Dolla, and Tiësto.
In addition to hotels, afterparties are set to take place on yachts, in bars, lounges, and nightclubs, which will likely impact traffic throughout Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach, and the city’s Downtown, Brickell, Midtown, and Wynwood neighborhoods.

Festival-goers should be aware of strict entry restrictions at Bayfront Park. Prohibited items include illegal substances, weapons of any kind, aerosols, and flammable materials. Also banned are stuffed animals, glow sticks, drones, markers, pens, spray paint, large backpacks, outside food and drinks, bottles, cans, and coolers. Security will not allow opened medication, cigarettes, balloons, flying discs, or personal items like umbrellas, chairs, blankets, sleeping bags, and tents.
How the Ultra Music Festival Could Affect You
- Heightened Security Measures: With undercover police and fire rescue teams on high alert, expect increased security checks and potential delays at festival venues and surrounding areas.
- Traffic Disruptions: The closure of Biscayne Boulevard and traffic rerouting in the city could affect your commute if you live or work nearby. Plan accordingly to avoid delays.
- Parking and Accessibility: Increased demand for parking and public transport will likely result in congestion, so consider alternative travel options if you’re heading to the festival.
- Beware of Scams: The prevalence of ticket scams means you should be extra cautious when purchasing tickets from unofficial sources. Trust only legitimate sellers.
- Local Business Boost: While the festival may disrupt daily life, it also brings significant economic benefits to local businesses, especially in hospitality and retail sectors.
