Woman Crashes Stolen Car Amid Struggle with Man in Miami-Dade

A dramatic incident unfolded in Miami-Dade County when a 26-year-old woman crashed a stolen vehicle during an altercation with the car’s owner. Authorities reported that Lory Santiesteban committed the theft on Sunday in the parking lot of a food store located in the Brownsville area.

The owner of the vehicle, a 2016 Toyota Tundra, had parked at 5008 NW 32 Ave. with the doors unlocked, allowing Santiesteban to enter swiftly. In a desperate attempt to reclaim his vehicle, the owner clung to the running boards as Santiesteban put the truck in reverse. He managed to partially enter the vehicle through the half-open driver-side window, trying to gain control of the steering wheel.

The chaos continued as Santiesteban drove into a white fence and collided with two parked cars. During the struggle, she allegedly assaulted the victim by kicking and punching him. Ultimately, the victim succeeded in shifting the vehicle into park and pushing Santiesteban out of the driver’s seat.

Authorities apprehended Santiesteban at approximately 7:05 p.m. near Northwest 49 Street and 32 Avenue. She was later booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after 1:10 a.m. on Monday. Santiesteban faces charges including carjacking, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest without violence. Carjacking charges do not allow for bond, while bond for the other charges was set at $3,000.
