Brevard County Teacher Placed on Administrative Leave Once More

Brevard Public Schools has once again placed teacher Karly Anderson on administrative leave following a recent review of newly released police body camera footage. This footage pertains to her initial arrest earlier this year. The district noted that the Cocoa Beach Police video, which only became accessible recently, contains content necessitating additional scrutiny under the district’s policy and professional conduct guidelines.

On January 19, 2025, Anderson faced arrest and was charged with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, leading to her initial suspension by Brevard Public Schools. Alongside her, former Theodore Roosevelt Elementary principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan was also apprehended on similar charges, with authorities citing the presence of 100 minors at a party at Hill-Brodigan’s residence.

The State Attorney’s office later downgraded Anderson’s charges on April 1 from a felony to a second-degree misdemeanor.
