SeaWorld Unveils Opening Date for New Expedition Odyssey Ride

SeaWorld Orlando is gearing up to launch its latest attraction, Expedition Odyssey, alongside the public introduction of a rescued Pacific walrus calf, Uki, originally from Alaska. The official opening of this Arctic-themed experience is scheduled for May 1.

Expedition Odyssey promises an immersive adventure through a flying-theater ride that transports visitors virtually across glaciers, over tundras, and into the depths of the Arctic Ocean. Featuring exclusive footage captured on a 50-foot diameter curved screen, guests will encounter orcas, beluga whales, polar bears, seals, and walruses. These scenes were meticulously filmed over the course of three separate two-week expeditions spread across a year.

This innovative attraction occupies the former Wild Arctic space, offering a unique blend of thrilling storytelling and genuine animal connections. It represents a novel endeavor for SeaWorld, capturing the mystical allure of the Arctic in a distinctive presentation.

Prior to the official opening, SeaWorld annual passholders will have the opportunity to preview the ride starting April 26. The previews will commence with platinum level cardholders and continue with additional levels each day until April 30. The ride is designed for guests with a height of at least 39 inches.

In collaboration with Mack Rides, a German manufacturer, SeaWorld has developed the Airific flying theater style for Expedition Odyssey. The accompanying film was produced by UK-based Mousetrap Media and Norway-based PolarX.

Following the ride experience, visitors will be introduced to an Arctic-animal habitat, featuring Uki, the walrus calf rescued by the Alaska SeaLife Center. Declared non-releasable, Uki has been under the diligent care of SeaWorld’s animal-care team since September.
