Yankees Defeat Rays 6-3 as Chisholm Gets Ejected for Disputing Called Third Strike

During a closely contested baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays, Jazz Chisholm Jr. found himself at the center of controversy. The Yankees secured a 6-3 victory on Thursday night in Tampa, Florida, but not without incident as Chisholm was ejected during the seventh inning.

The ejection was prompted by home plate umpire John Bacon after Chisholm contested a third strike call on a full-count pitch from Mason Montgomery. The pitch, which Chisholm believed was low, led to his fifth career ejection and his first since joining the Yankees.

Compounding the situation, Chisholm took to social media to express his frustration, posting a message on his account criticizing the call. Although he soon deleted the post, it may have been in breach of Major League Baseball’s social media policy. The policy strictly prohibits players from using electronic devices during games and from posting content that questions the integrity or impartiality of umpire decisions.

Reflecting on the incident, Chisholm acknowledged his mistake, stating that his competitive nature sometimes leads to emotional reactions. He expressed regret over losing his composure, admitting that he should handle such situations more calmly in the future.
