An incident involving a woman from Charlotte has led to her recent release from jail after an encounter with a Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services (DSS) worker. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the woman, identified as Shaniya Moore, allegedly threatened the DSS worker with a pocketknife. The weapon, described as having a long black blade, was reportedly held against the worker’s face and neck. Moore’s demand was for the return of her child.
The altercation occurred last Wednesday, as documented in a warrant, during the DSS worker’s official duties. The police have not disclosed further details about the incident or the status of Moore’s child.
Efforts to obtain a statement from the county regarding the situation have so far been unsuccessful, as officials have not yet responded to inquiries.
In related news, a separate tragic event occurred outside a DSS building in Cabarrus County, where a suspect fatally shot his wife and her daughter before taking his own life.
