Bronx Tragedy: Four-Year-Old Girl Found After Days Alone with Deceased Mother and Brother

A tragic incident unfolded in a Bronx home where a 38-year-old woman, who used a wheelchair, and her 8-year-old son with autism were found deceased under mysterious circumstances. For several days, the woman’s 4-year-old daughter was left alone in the apartment with the bodies, leading to her discovery by family members. The young girl was reportedly heard “screaming for days” inside the residence on E. 231st St. near White Plains Road in Wakefield, which prompted the visit from the woman’s father and another daughter. This unsettling discovery took place at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact duration for which the mother and son had been deceased, and their identities have not been publicly disclosed. Upon entering the home, police found the 4-year-old girl, visibly traumatized, and promptly transported her to Montefiore Medical Center for a medical assessment.

The woman’s father reported that he had not been in contact with his daughter for an extended period, prompting his visit along with his granddaughter. Initial examinations revealed no apparent injuries on the victims. As part of the investigation, autopsies have been scheduled to ascertain the cause of death. Meanwhile, the deaths are not currently considered suspicious, pending the findings from the city Medical Examiner, due to the known physical and mental disabilities of both the mother and child.
