Tragic Murder-Suicide in Troy Home Leaves Two Dead

The authorities are conducting an investigation into a suspected murder-suicide following the discovery of two deceased individuals in their residence on Friday. The Troy Police Department has identified the individuals as Laurie Neal, aged 60, and William Neal, aged 67.

Concerns arose when the police were requested to conduct a welfare check on the 1400 block of Croydon Road around 3:10 p.m. The request followed observations from a mail carrier who noticed an accumulation of uncollected mail, raising alarms about the occupants’ wellbeing. Additionally, a neighbor reported not having seen the couple since April 13.

After repeated attempts to contact the residents proved unsuccessful, and given other troubling signs, the decision was made to enter the home. Officers discovered that the doors had been barricaded using bungee cords, necessitating assistance from the Troy Fire Department to gain entry.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the case involves a murder-suicide, with Laurie identified as the victim of the homicide. Both bodies were subsequently transported to the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab for autopsies to confirm the cause of death.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
