Recognized for her achievements, Zoey Near has been named the Rock Falls High School Student of the Month for April 2025. A senior at the school, she is the daughter of Sara and Chris Near and has a sibling named Tucker Near.
Zoey finds statistics particularly engaging, despite its challenges. She appreciates the small class size, where students collaborate well and support one another.
Looking ahead, Zoey plans to attend Michigan Technological University, where she aims to major in aerospace engineering. Her career aspirations include working for a company focused on space exploration.
Active in extracurricular activities, Zoey participates in both the band and track. She has been involved in the band throughout her high school years, which she credits for teaching her teamwork and cooperation. Although she joined track in her sophomore year, she has focused on pole vault and sprinting events, learning persistence as she faces challenges in mastering pole vaulting.
A memorable moment in her high school journey was attending the Western Band Competition for the final time, a significant experience shared with friends as they reflected on past competitions together.
For the future, Zoey hopes to excel in college and secure internships that will pave the way toward her dream career in aerospace engineering.
