A recent incident in northwest Rochester resulted in the arrest of two minors linked to an armed carjacking. The Rochester Police Department responded to the report at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 17. The carjacking reportedly occurred outside an apartment building on the 2000 block of 41st Street Northwest.
The young individuals involved now face charges of second-degree robbery and have been taken to the East Central Regional Juvenile Center located in Anoka County. This update follows an earlier release by the Rochester Police Department, which detailed the series of events leading to the arrests.
According to the initial report, two suspects approached a parked vehicle while brandishing a handgun, demanding the occupants to vacate the car. Upon compliance by the occupants, the suspects seized the vehicle and sped away.
Authorities later spotted the stolen vehicle in close proximity and attempted a traffic stop. The suspects, however, continued to evade capture, eventually abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot near the intersection of 16th Avenue Northwest and 41st Street Northwest.
