Shelby Intersection Set for Major Overhaul

An ongoing project is set to transform a problematic intersection in Shelby, North Carolina, into a more conventional four-way crossing. This intersection, where Marion Street, Cherryville Highway, and Peach Street converge, has long been considered awkward and challenging for motorists.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has been overseeing the realignment efforts since last year and aims to complete the work by July 4. The goal is to enhance traffic flow and improve safety for all road users.

As part of the project, construction crews are diligently working to reconfigure the layout, ensuring that the intersection becomes more user-friendly and efficient. This upgrade is expected to significantly reduce congestion and accidents in the area.
