In response to a recent lockout of employees, Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien is set to rally with members of Teamsters Local 117 at Mauser Packaging Solutions, Inc. The event aims to show solidarity with union employees affected by the lockout situation.
The union reported that on April 14, Mauser Packaging Solutions closed its Industrial Containers Services facility doors to a group of 20 Local 117 members. These workers are responsible for repurposing steel barrels and are currently caught in a contract negotiation dispute with the company. Since the lockout began, Teamsters have been actively picketing the facility, demanding that the company end the lockout and negotiate in good faith.
The rally will include participation from notable figures, including Local 117 Secretary-Treasurer Paul Dascher, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda, and Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO President April Sims. They stand united in the effort to support the workers’ demands for better working conditions.
The gathering is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and will take place outside the Industrial Containers Services at 7152 1st Ave S. The Teamsters emphasize the importance of fair treatment and negotiation for the workers, who are essential to the company’s operations. The union calls for an end to the lockout and advocates for a fair contract that ensures sustainable working hours and wages that can support families.
