A tragic accident occurred Monday night as two motorcyclists were involved in a crash along Interstate 4 in Orange County. The incident, reported by the Florida Highway Patrol, took place shortly after 9 p.m. near Maitland.
The motorcycles were traveling side by side on the eastbound lanes of I-4, nearing the exit for Maitland Boulevard when the crash happened. According to investigators, both vehicles left the roadway on a curve at the exit, leading to a collision with a concrete wall.
The force of the impact ejected both riders from their motorcycles, causing them to fall from the overpass. The riders landed in a grassy field below. Tragically, a 25-year-old woman from Kissimmee succumbed to her injuries. A 34-year-old man, also from Kissimmee, sustained critical injuries in the incident.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
