Fort Myers, FL – A federal indictment has been issued against three Naples residents, Jesus Pujol Hernandez, 41, Miguel Marquez Romero, 29, and Paulo Sabon Montero, 54. They are charged with conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities for murder-for-hire and using these facilities with the intent to commit murder-for-hire. If found guilty, each could face up to 10 years in federal prison.
The charges stem from events between April 16 and 17, 2025, when Marquez Romero and Sabon Montero allegedly discussed over the phone a plot to kill an individual identified by Hernandez for a fee of up to $30,000. Hernandez had reportedly been hired by the intended victim’s brother to execute the plan. The accused coordinated through phone calls and arranged a meeting to further discuss the murder scheme.
On April 17, 2025, the trio met in a grocery store parking lot in Naples, where they were subsequently apprehended by law enforcement officers. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with support from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick L. Darcey.
It is important to note that an indictment is merely a formal accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
